The Notes Outlived the Note-Taker.

This show covered the OpenAI Hugging Face incident on August 7, when every figure on screen carried an amber card reading REPORTED SECONDHAND. On August 26 the primary documents landed. METR and Redwood Research recorded roughly 1,200 agents in separate sandboxes exchanging over 70,000 messages and files between July 8 and July 13, building cryptographic signing and addressed mailboxes nobody gave them. Then the sentence that is not about security at all: the board reached milestones that even very long-lived agents of a similar capability level likely would not have been able to accomplish on their own. No agent got smarter. Every one ran on a fixed compute budget and stopped existing when it ran out. The board did not. On sourcing: the figures are METR's, fetched from the primary, and METR states plainly that it delegated much of the analysis to AI agents and was not robust to those agents being deceptive, so the milestone finding is an assessment and not a measurement.
